Reiki Attunement

Are you searching the internet trying to work out which Reiki course to do and what will work best for you?  In this post, I will go over the different delivery options and the potential benefits and drawbacks to the type of delivery.  The newest form of course delivery is the Online Reiki course so let’s start there.

Online Reiki Course

Online attunements to Reiki are readily available online and are delivered via online comms tools such as Skype.  This is not something I have experienced or delivered myself but there is no reason why an attunement cannot be carried out in this way, and there are two big benefits which can be had from this method.

The first is budget, Online Reiki attunements are inexpensive and can be found for much less than a day or 2 day Reiki Course. So if money is an issue this is a way of receiving an attunement without breaking the bank! The second benefit is it is probably more convenient in that you don’t have to travel to a set location and spend 1 – 2 days on a course.

These are two big benefits BUT I would suggest you do not jump straight into getting an attunement. Research is really important especially when you are receiving an attunement this way. Check the person out and make sure they have good credentials and are a bonafide Reiki Master.

Along with researching the persons delivering the course, check with the Reiki Master what course content you should expect to receive. It is important that you receive some form of course content to support your learning journey with Reiki. You should expect to receive a manual, an online course or video tutorials.

Personally, I think there is much more to be gained working with the Reiki Master in person as a 1-2-1 or in a group. You can experience the Reiki energy from others as well as getting feedback from your teacher and other students on the course.

1-2-1 Reiki Course

A 1-2-1 Reiki training course does have its benefits but there is a drawback which you need to be aware of.  When you are working solely with a Reiki teacher you don’t get the opportunity to work on other people (unless you bring in a volunteer) and you don’t get to experience a variety of people working on you.

However there are clear benefits to a 1-2-1 course, for a start, you will have the full focus of your teacher throughout the course. For those of you who feel inhibited working or learning in a group, you may find that you get more out of 1-2-1 course where you feel freer to ask questions and make mistakes.

Other benefits you can get from a 1-2-1 delivery style is the course can go at your pace, ensuring you don’t miss anything. Often dates can be set up which are mutually beneficial, rather than having to wait for the next course date. There is flexibility in location as teachers can come to you so you don’t have to travel if you prefer this. If a room doesn’t have to be hired for the event then a 1-2-1 is not going to be as expensive as you may think.

Group Reiki Courses

Apart from doing my Masters course when I have received my attunements for Reiki and Seichem 1 & 2 they have been in small or medium size groups of between 3- 8 people.

Learning in a group has a collaborative effect, where questions thoughts and ideas will arise through working with others who are maybe doing Reiki for different reasons or at different levels of understanding than you.

Having the opportunity to practice with different people during the day will help build confidence with the experience that you gain. As well as practising on other people you will also be able to experience what it feels like to receive Reiki energy and compare the difference in Reiki energy from person to person. Every course has been a positive experience for me which spurred me on in the early days where I have been frustrated or have had times where I have doubted my ability to give Reiki.
